Referral Information & What to Expect

Referrals are accepted for children age 7 and older and adults through age 65. Referrals may come from psychiatrists, primary care providers, mental health therapists, schools, attorneys and courts, agencies, and other professionals. Individuals and families may also contact the practice regarding appropriate clinical evaluation services.

1. Intake & Referral Questions

The evaluation begins with an intake session to discuss the reason for referral, clarify the goals of the evaluation, review relevant history, and identify the questions the assessment is intended to address.

2. Records & Collateral Information

When relevant, the evaluation includes review of available collateral information and records. These may include medical and mental health records, educational records, prior evaluations, treatment records, and legal or agency documents.

3. Collateral Interviews

With appropriate authorization, collateral interviews may be conducted with family members, treating professionals, teachers or school personnel, caseworkers, or other individuals who can provide information relevant to the referral questions.

4. Face-to-Face Testing

Testing is conducted face-to-face and may take up to approximately six hours depending on the referral questions and individual needs. Frequent breaks are provided, including a longer break for lunch. The specific measures used are selected according to the purpose of the evaluation.

5. Feedback

A feedback session is scheduled after the evaluation is completed. Findings are discussed in understandable terms, including possible diagnoses when appropriate, recommendations, and referrals to community resources or other professionals when indicated.

Insurance & Payment

Premera Blue Cross is accepted. Private-pay services are also available. For clients using out-of-network benefits, a superbill can be provided for submission to their insurance company for possible reimbursement.
